Rondo's Finale

I completed Rondo several months ago in March for Momocon but never posted the last few progress pictures or the whole costume completed. I've done a lot of other stuff since then too which I'll be posting later.
One of 2 swords made by my dad. clay details and paint by me.

ARMor painted
Shoulder crown?
Wig styled. I had to pull the whole thing in a ponytail, cut off the ponytail then glue it back on so it would stay up. It's pretty heavy, so drastic measures were taken.

Ze skirt. I just sewed four trapezoid shapes together. AKA a 'gored' skirt.

Shoe painted! I used watered down black paint to get the antiqued look.
THERE SHE IS! In action!
Better detail shot. I have since improved the corset so it doesn't derp over like that and since I was kind of rushed finishing, a lot of pieces broke and went missing. They've all been repaired and lots of things have been improved and fixed. I'll be entering in the costume contest at AFO next weekend. Our Eternal Sonata group didn't win at Momo :(
DA DA DA DAAA There she is all done! More posts coming soon of Neku Sakuraba, Skyward Sword Link and more!

Rondo progress!

OHAI there!
More Rondo progress pics! ..And there was much rejoicing [yeeyy].
GLOVE! surprisingly easy to make despite its complexity. I have the other one made, but the clay details still need to be made/added. It's all attached to a black knit winter glove via hot glue. The shield thing goes on the shoulder piece.. It's more decorative than anything.
Shoe progress- Added almost all of the clay details.. all that's left to do as far as construction on this is shaping the heel and adding clay to the strip of wonderflex on the front of the ankle there. THEN I get to make the other shoe!! 6___9
This is the knee guard. She only has one.. and only one shoulder guard as well.. apparently her right side is more important?
ANYHOO, that's all for today, folks! Oh, yeah, I was playing around with my eyeshadow today, that's why I look like Rufio.

Rondo

Hey kids! So I'm working on this cosplay of Rondo from Eternal sonata for a group competition at Momocon this March. I am thuper exthited. :}
This is Rondo v v

Like a boss.
So yah.. a bit intimidating to be sure.. BUT I wanted the challenge! And a challenge it has been, but a good one. I'm learning tons along the way. SO without further ado, here's the stuff I've made for it!
These have since been repainted a bit lighter but still need finishing.
All my armor is made from wonderflex, craft foam, model magic, paper clay, hot-, tacky- and elmer's glue... Then primed and painted. This armored shoe has an actual shoe for a base to which I attached everything via hot glue. Still lots to do with this...
and THEES I just took a few minutes ago. I did all my own patterning for this. It's made with a fabric-interfacing-fabric sandwich for all pieces and boning in the lace's edges. it's all top-stitched in black around the borders, but the flame design on the front was back-stitched and sewn by hand. I still have to add more points to the sides and the weird loopy things.. I'll probably end up making those with wonderflex.

SO there it is! I'll update more with the progress I'm doing along the way as well as some past progress pics that are sort of on hold because of this costume's impending deadline and my busy school schedule 6__9
Toodles!

About this blog and stuff

Greetings! The Frogster here. I'm starting this blog to post my cosplay tips and progress! I try to make everything that I can. I even do my own patterning (which has caused many a breakdown, but better results in the end). I'll try to post whenever I make new things and all the progress along the way! I'm also starting a Tumblr, just to see which one I like better. I'm not much of a writer, but I'll try to make things clear for everyone. I'll probably spend these first few posts on past projects/wips that I have going. Don't worry, they're not too old.. I really got into cosplay last summer, so most progress pics are from then on.
Also! feel free as a bird to ask any questions about cosplay that you want! I may not be able to answer EVERYTHING, but I can sure try to find out! I know people ;)
I hope you enjoy the posts to come!
Cheers!
